Riding with a group is very different than riding solo. The independence, solitute, and individuality of solo riding disappears. They are replaced by social and personal interactions. The group becomes an entity entirely of itself. Conformity, unity, and group cohesion become values, with as the stronger supporting the weaker. The cooperation that ensues increases efficiency. As a group, greater distances, higher speeds, and increased performance are possible with less effort and work. What a nice metaphor!
We had an easy, level, recovery ride of 55 miles through beautiful desert with great company. Enjoyed a nice lunch at a country cafe, where the proprietors were nicer than imaginable. Bedding down in Wickenberg before dropping down into Phoenix tomorrow. On a rest day there, I will go to a high school and the legislature. I am hoping, beyond Hope, that words will come to me to be impactful.
